YOU WANT TO SEE CRAZY (an OAU story)
"A hungry man is an angry man." See ehn, as a Nigerian that statement is not even new anymore because truth be told everyone is hungry (oops! I mean everyone is angryπΉπΊπ). At times judging people by background is not enough to imagine they are not angry. Time and circumstances happen to them too, at the end of the day; na everybody dey vex. That's why it is highly necessary to add the "sorry, excuse me, abeg no vex..." Before asking a stranger question in Nigeria πππ
A story I won't forget is a part 2 Experience. Let me take you on a journey down memory lane☺️π€π₯°
One of those years I can't forget easily is my memory of Awo Hall, in Obafemi Awolowo University, particularly when I was in part 2. They don't call it Africa's most beautiful campus for no reason (oya argue with your VCπππ), it's a proven truth over and over again. This is not just about the buildings alone, it's about the memories and experiences. The funny thing though is just that as beautiful as OAU is in her buildings, planning and all, the experience for an average OAU student is hmmmm (kashamadupe πππ)... In short, don't talk to an average OAU student anyhow (especially while still an undergraduate) because everyone is angry. From the department that will spread four courses in a day to lecture theatres that are 2kms apart; to lecturer that only gives his "A" to God. Down to fellow students that have been strategically placed to frustrate other students. Believe me, if you misbehave, you will see crazy.
It was the year I was in part 2 and I decided to move to Awo Hall (don't ask me how I got there thoughπππ€ππ). Awo Hall in those years was like a psychiatric hall (okay, maybe not the right word) but 80% of the occupant are not normal (except me and like 3 other guys and dem be GLOGSFE pastorsπππ€«). Talk of someone waking up as early as 2 am and deciding he needed to shout, or people who call people in other blocks out to come and engage them in abusive bants. if I start to talk ehn, ground go full, but I know you get my point πππ. So I sha finally decided that's where I want to stay for my part 2 (if I no foolish, na ment e go beππ). I had stayed in Angola Hall in my part 1, but unlike Awo Hall, Angola Hall occupants were restricted to part 1 students alone. So, as you would expect, there was no unnecessary drama, or special event. Just go to class, come back to play Game on the computer, and in the evening na to go find somewhere read (such a boring lifeππππ€£).
I had been introduced into the university with a wrong idea (or maybe Awo Hall was the wrong hostel to stay abeg I tire jareπππ) by the time I moved into Awo, I suddenly found myself looking for a river in the desert (abnormal people everywhereπ€£π€£π€£). At first, it looked mostly like I had blended in, I would join them to do the banting tradition (if you know you knowπ€π€£). The problem though is, by the time I had gone to class twice without having my bath because someone else had used my water; gone to bed hungry because I had done father Christmas with my food; slept at Awo cafe because someone else had slept on my bed. Omo, everything starts to dey clearππ€£π€£. Not long, I started going from "it's fine" to "you want to see crazy"
I told you everyone in OAU is angry sheybi? I automatically joined the list of angry Nigerian student tooπΊπΊπΊ. By the end of the semester, I stopped fetching in fact it got to a point I forgot people use to fetch water because I just need one person to be careless with his water on the whole floor (emi ikaππ€£π€£). I became a mighty usurper, I sleep on any bed I want (that's how stars doπ) and lastly, you dare not touch my food. I no dey smile once I start cooking, so it only meant one thing; If you touch my food, you will see crazy. Since part 2 my watchword became; stay wicked!
If you misbehave with me, you gonn see crazy ππ
Me: Hey Siri, I dey vex this morning
Siri: hello, I can't understand what you're saying
Me: na ogΓΊn go kill you
Siri: "searching for ogΓΊn"
Me: cancel! Cancel!
Siri: "canceling search"
Me: okay Siri, play me "thunder fire you" by Ric Hassani
Let me go and drink orijin bitter jare.
