STOP DREAMING BIG 😐
I might have just uttered the most sense-making rubbish in the history of utterance but only if you can read on so that we can reflect together on it. I know you have your mind set on what I'm about to say and waiting to punch me in the face; let's find out if you don't use that same hand to rub my cheek at the end ☺
The life you live is characterized by many stages. As you progress, some feeble things become gargantuan and some enormous traits erase in your life. You are programmed to be that way, it has nothing to do with laziness or not "staying-woke."
I usually tell myself "may my dreams not come true." It's no hard feeling. It's just that I dream about things I think of before sleeping. If I watch a horror movie and sleep, there is every possibility that they will shoot me with a gun or eat my eyes. If I stay awake too, that's even worse. I spend my night carefully. I don't just think anyhow.
But that's not where I'm going today. When I said you should stop dreaming big, what came to your mind? 🤔 Let me guess; you were thinking I'm trying to tell you "no matter how much you work, you can't have Dangote's money." Are you looking for Dangote's money? You'd better reschedule your vision. Funnily enough, I don't want Dangote's money. I don't even want to be rich like Otedola or Adenuga. There is a place of staying wealthy and relevant without being popular and famous.
I spoke to a friend some months ago, I asked her what's her next plan in life? She said she doesn't know. She doesn't buy into our idea of visions and these "next 5 years". I thought about it carefully before arriving at a conclusion. She said something important "I don't have plans, I'm just diligent about what I currently do; it is how it comes, then I follow." You will understand that sentence if you've made plans for the next 3 years and along the line, you've changed more than 16 items before the first 8 months.
Did I say you shouldn't make plans? Absolutely No! Every life needs a plan. What's I'm trying to get at is the fact that your plans shouldn't hang on what you feel, you should rather hang it on what is necessary. I didn't say you should have a shallow dream either. Who wants to work for Don Jazzy or Dino Melaye? I do. But if they call me today and give me a particular task, will I be able to do it the way they want? Averagely NO! I wasn't expecting it, I didn't even know my strings could pull such a connection. Maybe I just need to prepare more because if I keep dreaming big, then I won't get anything done, my gaze would only be set on letter Z when I'm yet to resolve letter A.
Dream sequentially; chronologically and steadily. In the end, you will find out that you have acquired that big dream without knowing. Do your 9-5. Collect your small stipend. You will leave that job soon and move to another. The process is the dreaming, not the thinking. The BIG is every win, not having money like Jeff Bezos. Dream step by step with a plan, you will go farther than you thought.
I'm not sure I've been able to pen this down the way I was thinking it but if you have any questions, I'd be glad to answer it. ☺
