THEY DON'T SEE WHAT I SEE

“It takes many years of dedication and hardwork to become an overnight success.” ~ Adekunle Kosoko (2020)

I know sometimes you ask yourself “what's even the point of those late nights followed by very early mornings?”, “why should I keep doing this when it looks like nothing is coming out of it?”. Yeah, I know, I ask myself too.
I put these words down while I learn from them myself, I thought it would be just right to share with you.

Every one of us has aspirations. Every one of us wishes to be in a far better place than they are now, in some time to come. Some of us will get what we want, some will get far less. Tough fact, yeah?. This isn't pop psychology or a regular attempt to motivate you, it's more like reality. You and I both know that it is those that keep pushing that get what they want eventually, so that's not what I'm here to tell you. Follow me here......

In a somewhat dissapointing way, I have recently learnt that my efforts now, as much as I know they are, don't mean anything to most people, even those closest to me, because they don't understand what my aim is. This taught me that whatever success I achieve should not be to “show” or “shock” anybody. It's not about others, it's about yourself and acquiring a higher status, it's about making things easier for those coming after you. Others don't see what you see, so don't allow their “deafening” opinions make you back down or change course. Don't act rude to them too, because they just don't understand. Hold fast to that which is yours.

Check the opening quote again. I've heard and read achievers say time and time again that they were not recognized in the slightest way at the times when they put in all the work into those projects, not until everything became so big. A lot of them were dubbed “overnight success”, but people didn't see all of the dissapointment, missed opportunities, discouragement, even from folks, all of the sweat, the “imposter syndrome” they battled with, and all time time it took them to get that far. What's below the iceberg tip is usually much bigger, much stronger and it's really what holds the rock itself, but it's only the tip that is usually seen.

You have what it takes, you're good enough to start. Stop second guessing yourself. Build yourself and add more value as you move forward, instead of sitting in one spot and sulking. Sulking is for losers. I won't be so unrealistic not to recognise the fact that sometimes, you also have to retreat, take a break and restrategize, but keep going still. Share your ideas with those who sincerely see your value, be teachable and help others grow too. Above all, pray and give yourself to the guidance of the Most High, He alone knows what's best for you.

I don't consider myself an amazing pen pusher or one with so much wisdom, but I do hope that these words meet you right and help you where they can.

Blessings my friend!.
